AMCA and AGBU Organized a Discussion on the Development of Armenia’s Investment Environment

On June 17, the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia, in cooperation with the Armenian General Benevolent Union, held a discussion entitled “The Role of AMCA in the Sustainable Development of Armenia’s Investment Environment: Engaging the Legal Potential of the Diaspora and Advancing Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms.”

 

The purpose of the discussion was to present the impact of arbitration and the Center on the economic development of the Republic of Armenia, to address the trends in the development of arbitration and mediation in the country, to introduce the case administration tools used by the Center, and to highlight a number of issues related to the introduction of the institution of mandatory mediation. Opening remarks were delivered by Marina Mkrtchyan, Executive Director of the AGBU Armenia Representation, who referred to the prerequisites for the establishment of the Center and its key priorities. During the discussion, Lilit Petrosyan, Director of the Center, presented the structure of AMCA, its main areas of activity, as well as a number of issues related to the institution of mandatory mediation. Norayr Baghdasaryan, Lawyer at the Center, then presented the main tools and approaches used in the administration of arbitration cases, also addressing the issue of assessing the impact of arbitration on the economy.

 

The event concluded with remarks by Hakob Cholakyan, Legal Expert at the Center, who addressed the specific features of mediation case administration and the involvement of Diaspora Armenian lawyers in AMCA platforms. The discussion was accompanied by an active question-and-answer session, during which participants raised a number of questions to the speakers and engaged in a constructive discussion on current issues.
