Mediation Qualification Training Course was Held

On December 8, the fifth mediation qualification training course was launched through the cooperation of the Ministry of Justice, the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia, the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, and the European Union. Held from December 8 to 12, the five-day course, comprising 33 academic hours, was designed to strengthen the professional capacities of future mediators and contribute to the development of new specialists in the field.

 

At the opening of the course, welcome remarks were delivered by Davit Gharibyan, Acting Director of the Legislation Development Center Foundation of the Ministry of Justice, Tatevik Matinyan, Director of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia Foundation, and Kristina Petrosyan, Senior Project Officer at the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan. They presented the objectives of the course, its programmatic content, and the expected outcomes.

 

The course was delivered by Council of Europe experts Sophio Chachava and Ramon Tena. On the first day, they addressed alternative dispute resolution methods and negotiation techniques. Disputes and the available alternatives for their resolution were discussed in depth, while the use of interactive methods enabled participants to acquire practical knowledge and skills alongside theoretical understanding.

 

At the closing ceremony, the participants who successfully completed the course were welcomed and awarded certificates of completion by Davit Gharibyan, Acting Director of the Legislation Development Center Foundation of the Ministry of Justice, Tatevik Matinyan, Director of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia Foundation, Gayane Demirchyan, President of the Self-Regulatory Organization of Mediators, and Kristina Petrosyan, Senior Project Officer at the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan. In her remarks, Tatevik Matinyan welcomed the participants, spoke about the preconditions for the establishment and development of the mediation institution, highlighted its significance, and wished the participants success in their professional path.

 

Participants who successfully completed the five-day intensive course will have the opportunity to take the qualification examination. Those who pass the examination will obtain mediator qualification, contributing to the expansion of Armenia’s mediation community and to the continued development of mediation in the country.
