Four-Day Arbitration Training at AMCA
Following the successful launch of its mediation course, the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia (AMCA) initiated its professional arbitration course, aimed at equipping participants with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills through case-based examples and professional discussions. Throughout the four-day course, participants were introduced to the key topics of arbitration, including the concept and significance of arbitration, its advantages and fundamental principles, the role and distinctions between ad hoc and institutional arbitration, the arbitration agreement, the formation and jurisdiction of the arbitral tribunal, the conduct and conclusion of arbitral proceedings, the making, setting aside, and enforcement of arbitral awards, as well as the procedures for judicial assistance in arbitration. Special attention was also given to the role of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia (AMCA) as a permanent arbitral institution.
On the first day of the course, the speaker was Lilit Karapetyan, Partner at Concern Dialog Law Firm and Chair of the ICC Armenia Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission. She introduced participants to the essence of arbitration, its types, and its practical advantages. On the same day, AMCA Director Lilit Petrosyan presented the scope of arbitration, the role of institutional arbitration, and the particular features of arbitration through examples of cases examined by the Center.
On the second day, the speaker was Aram Khachatryan, President of the Arbitrators Association of Armenia and Attorney at Law. He presented a number of key issues related to the arbitration agreement, ensuring professional and substantive discussions.
On the third day, the speaker was Davit Khachatryan, Lecturer at the American University of Armenia and the Armenian-Russian University. He addressed a number of important issues related to the formation and jurisdiction of the arbitral tribunal, the rendering of arbitral awards, the termination of arbitral proceedings, and the setting aside of arbitral awards, ensuring professional and substantive discussions.
On the fourth day, the speaker was Lilit Petrosyan, Director of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia (AMCA). She presented the rules of conduct for arbitrators, issues related to the enforcement of arbitral awards, and proceedings concerning judicial assistance in arbitration, ensuring professional and substantive discussions. At the end of the course, participants received their certificates, marking the conclusion of an intensive, substantive, and practice-oriented course dedicated to arbitration and aimed at enhancing their professional capacities.
