Mediator Qualification Training Course Was Held
From April 29 to May 3, the second training course aimed at the qualification of mediators was held through the cooperation of the Ministry of Justice, the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia, the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, and the United Nations Development Programme. Following the legislative reforms introduced in 2022, more than 40 candidates applied to participate in this second training course, of whom 22 were selected to take part in the 33-academic-hour programme developed by international expert mediators of the Council of Europe.
In order to make the course more comprehensive and beneficial, invited international and national experts, as well as judges, shared their valuable experience in the field of mediation and their observations on the new legislative regulations. The participants who successfully completed the course were congratulated and awarded certificates of completion by Tigran Dadunts, Director of the Legislation Development Center Foundation of the Ministry of Justice, Arman Zrvandyan, National Co-ordinator of the Council of Europe project “Support to the Implementation of Judicial Reforms in Armenia,” Maria Silvanyan, Head of the Human Rights, Justice and Rule of Law Programme at the United Nations Development Programme, and Tatevik Matinyan, Director of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia Foundation.
Tatevik Matinyan welcomed the participants, spoke about the prerequisites for the establishment and development of the mediation institution, highlighted its importance, and wished the participants success. Lilit Petrosyan, Deputy Director of AMCA, presented the Center’s Mediation Rules, its activities, the specific features of mediation, and the details of the mediation process. The participants who successfully completed the five-day intensive training course will have the opportunity to take part in the qualification assessment. Those who pass it successfully will join Armenia’s community of mediators as new professionals.
