AMCA Representative Participated in Shanghai Cooperation Organization Arbitration Forum

At the invitation of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), Norayr Baghdasaryan, Lawyer at the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia (AMCA), participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Arbitration Forum held in Urumqi, Xinjiang. This large-scale event brought together more than 200 participants from China, as well as from more than 25 member and partner states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, including countries from Central Asia, the South Caucasus, India, Singapore, Mongolia, the Maldives, and the Russian Federation.

 

During the opening ceremony of the forum, Lilit Petrosyan, Director of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia, addressed the participants through a video message, wishing them a productive and successful forum. Within the framework of the event, Norayr Baghdasaryan held a meeting with representatives of the administration of Xinjiang of the People’s Republic of China and presented the prospects for improving Armenia’s international investment environment in the context of AMCA’s activities.

 

The forum addressed a number of current issues, including the impact of artificial intelligence on arbitration, the limits of party autonomy in arbitral proceedings, the results of mandatory mediation in Central Asian countries, and a range of other topics. In bilateral meetings with secretaries-general of arbitration centers, arbitrators, lawyers, and arbitration case managers participating in the forum, AMCA’s representative presented the Center’s activities and existing indicators, while also exchanging experience and discussing prospects for future cooperation.
