The Role of EU Budget Support in the Establishment and Development of AMCA
RA Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan met with Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Armenia Vasilis Maragos. Among other agenda issues, the parties also discussed the European Union’s Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Armenia – Phase II Budget Support Programme has played a significant role in the establishment and development of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia (AMCA).
Thanks to the European Union’s budget support, the Center has achieved tangible results within a short period of time. Around 260 arbitration cases and 120 mediation cases have been registered at the Center. Notably, of the approximately 440 mandatory mediation cases conducted in Armenia, 107 were handled by AMCA.
Three international arbitration conferences have been organized, each bringing together more than 500 participants and around 50 speakers from Armenia and abroad. A technically equipped office environment has been established to ensure the confidentiality of arbitration and mediation proceedings, as well as the secure and uninterrupted conduct of online hearings.
A digital case management system, e-amca.am, has been developed and introduced, enabling the parties and the Secretariat to conduct proceedings entirely online, thereby saving time and resources. Around 40 professional development training courses on arbitration and mediation have been organized and delivered for judges, lawyers, mediators, arbitrators, and other professionals in the field.
