The Fourth Annual Armenian International Arbitration Days in Yerevan

From 24 to 26 September 2026, Armenian Arbitration Days 2026 was held in Yerevan, bringing together professional arbitrators, mediators, judges, academics, lawyers, representatives of arbitral institutions and other professionals from Armenia and abroad.

 

The opening ceremony of the Main Conference featured welcoming remarks by Srbuhi Galyan, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia. The Minister highlighted the importance of arbitration and mediation in strengthening Armenia’s legal and investment environment, improving access to justice and advancing ongoing reforms in the field of alternative dispute resolution. Srbuhi Galyan also addressed the importance of effective judicial support for arbitration, emphasized the need for the continued development of mediation and highlighted the importance of strengthening professional capacity.

 

The keynote speaker of Armenian Arbitration Days 2026 was Dr. Hamid Gharavi, Founding Partner of Derains & Gharavi. In his address, Dr. Gharavi discussed the effectiveness of arbitral institutions in the context of armed conflicts and political alliances, emphasizing the importance of preserving their credibility and neutrality.

 

The Main Conference featured four panel discussions addressing current issues related to multi-tier clauses, emergency arbitration and interim measures, judicial assistance to arbitration, evidentiary gaps and adverse inferences, as well as mandatory mediation and lessons from the Armenian experience.

 

The Main Conference was closed by Tigran Dadunts, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, who highlighted the importance and role of such events in developing a culture of alternative dispute resolution and raising awareness in this field.

 

On 25 and 26 September, the programme continued with specialised side events covering the role of arbitral institutions and case management, strategic decision-making in international arbitration, enforcement of arbitral awards, the development of an arbitration-friendly legal environment, training for arbitrators and case managers, practical mediation skills, as well as alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in the fields of intellectual property and the digital economy.

 

This year, Armenian Arbitration Days 2026 was held with the support of international and local sponsors. The sponsors included the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), Equity Law Partners, Sigma Law Group, Baker Tilly Armenia, Legal Business Law Group, and ADWISE Business & Legal Consulting.

 

Armenian Arbitration Days 2026 brought together more than 300 participants and 43 speakers representing over 20 countries.
