AMCA Representatives Participate as Arbitrators in the 12th AUA Mock Arbitration Competition

2026-05-27

The Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia (AMCA) is pleased to share that its arbitrators, Norayr Baghdasaryan and Hagop Tcholakian, participated as arbitrators in the 12th Mock Arbitration Competition organized within the framework of the AUA Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Clinic.

The competition took place on May 23 and 24, 2026, at American University of Armenia in Yerevan. Through a realistic simulation of arbitral proceedings, participants gained hands-on experience with the key stages of arbitration while strengthening their legal advocacy, case analysis, and oral presentation skills.

The involvement of the AMCA representatives as arbitrators reflects its ongoing commitment to promoting arbitration in Armenia and supporting the practical education of future legal professionals through direct engagement with the field.

Established in 2012, the ADR Clinic at the American University of Armenia serves practitioners, students, and young professionals interested in alternative dispute resolution. The Clinic introduces participants to the practical dimensions of arbitration, mediation, and other ADR mechanisms through a wide range of activities, including skills-based training programs, seminars, workshops, research initiatives, professional networking events, and the Annual Mock Arbitration Competition.

This year’s competition provided participants with a valuable opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice and gain deeper insight into the conduct of arbitral proceedings. Participants assumed the roles of parties and counsel, and got acquainted with the roles of arbitrators, developing legal arguments and presenting their positions in a simulated arbitration setting.

The AMCA highly values initiatives of this kind, which contribute to the advancement of arbitration and mediation in Armenia, support the professional development of young lawyers, and strengthen the connection between academic learning and practical experience.
