Senior Advisor for the MENA region at the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy (SIDRA)
Dr. Emad Hussein is an international arbitrator, accredited mediator, and an academic specializing in international dispute resolution. He currently serves as Senior Advisor for the MENA region at the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy (SIDRA), Deputy President of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Centre's (OIC-AC) International Court of Arbitration, Associate Lecturer at Newcastle University, UK, and Senior Expert – Alternative Dispute Resolution at the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the United States Department of Commerce.
He is empaneled as an arbitrator with the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), American Arbitration Association – International Centre for Dispute Resolution (AAA-ICDR), Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), Abu Dhabi International Arbitration Centre (ArbitrateAD), Qatar International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA), Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) and Saudi Centre for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA).
As a mediator, he is internationally accredited by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) (UK), the Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI) (Singapore), and the International Mediation Institute (IMI). He is additionally empaneled with the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman (CAO) of the World Bank Group, African Development Bank Independent Review Mechanism (AfDB-IRM), European Investment Bank Complaints Mechanism (EIB-CM), World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center (WIPO AMC), International Islamic Centre for Reconciliation and Arbitration (IICRA), Abu Dhabi Global Market Arbitration Centre (ADGMAC), Investors' Dispute Settlement Center (IDSC), and Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and a member of its Approved Faculty List (AFL), he trains arbitrators and mediators under the CIArb Fellowship route, and maintains an active academic and capacity-building profile. Dr Hussein has authored numerous publications on arbitration and mediation. His latest book, "International Commercial Arbitration in the Mainland UAE: A Legislative, Judicial and Institutional Assessment" was published by LexisNexis in 2025. He also serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Mediation Theory and Practice and on advisory boards of the College of Law, AUIB (Iraq), InnovADR (Geneva), and the Sharjah Judicial Institute, UAE.
