The Honourable Paul Heath KC was admitted to the New Zealand Bar in 1978, appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1998 and sat as a Judge of the High Court of New Zealand from 2002 until 2018. He retired early from the High Court Bench to focus on arbitration, both international and domestic. Paul also undertakes work as a mediator, is Chief Justice of the Pitcairn Islands and sits on the Court of Appeal in both Fiji and Tonga. Presently, he practises from Bankside Chambers, Auckland and Singapore.
Paul is currently a member of panels of arbitrators established by the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the Dubai International Arbitration Centre, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the Asia International Arbitration Centre and the New Zealand International Arbitration Centre. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and a Chartered Arbitrator. In the last three years Paul has received three appointments as sole arbitrator from the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and one (as part of a panel) from the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. He is also a member of P.R.I.M.E. Finance’s Panel of Experts for Dispute Resolution.
