On the 26th of January, the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia (AMCA) hosted the delegation of the Council of Europe office in Yerevan led by the acting head of the office Maxime Longangue, Head of Division of Cooperation Programmes on Justice and Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Lilit Daneghian, the national project manager of the “Support to the justice reform in Armenia” PGG III project Tamara Barbakadze, and the senior project officer of the same project Natalya Adamyan.
At the beginning of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of the exchange of experience and the implementation of joint projects.
Tatevik Matinyan, the director of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia, presented the services provided by the Center, the activities aimed at raising public awareness on arbitration and mediation, the steps towards the development of the ADR field and the future plans and goals.
Acting Head of the Yerevan Office of the Council of Europe Maxime Longangue greeted the creation of the newly opened center, highlighting the importance of this initiative, and wished the center success in achieving its mission.
Head of the Division of Cooperation Programmes on Justice and Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Lilit Daneghian, referred to the support provided by the CoE to the development of arbitration and mediation institutions in Armenia over the past years, including the provision of expert assistance aimed at improving legislation in line with human rights and the rule of law standards, and further possible cooperation.
Director of AMCA Tatevik Matinyan noted. “I am happy to host our colleagues of the CoE today in the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia. It is a very important meeting for both sides, as we implemented a quite successful joint training course for mediators, and I am sure that the lasting effective cooperation will lead to the implementation of even more successful programs.”
